Eternal Wisdom:
“The works of Jesus and Mary can also be called wonderful flowers but their perfume and beauty can only be appreciated by those who study them carefully and who open them and drink in their scent by diligent and sincere meditation.”
(Notes by St. Louis Marie de Montfort in his book: “The Secret of the Rosary”)
“Every Christian is called to become a strong athlete of Christ, that is, a faithful and courageous witness to his Gospel. But to succeed in this, he must persevere in prayer, be trained in virtue and follow the divine Master in everything.”
(St. Pope John Paul II, Jubilee of Sports 2000)
“AVE MARIS STELLA, DEI MATER ALMA, ATQUE SEMPER VIRGO, FELIX CÆLI PORTA”

BASIC TIMELINE from JUNE 2025 to JUNE 2026
ANTICIPATING THE FEAST OF THE TWO HEARTS IN 2026 & 100th ANNIVERSARIES
This effort at a “First Annual” AVE MARIS STELLA NOVENA officially “ends” in one year from now on June 14, 2026.
(Note: One’s progress in persevering prayer might be celebrated at the Sunday Mass after the two feasts of the two hearts of Jesus and Mary. More info on building community around this final weekend in the weeks to come).
A SACRIFICE OF TIME & A DEMONSTRATION OF LOVE2
We hope to reach all souls being called to offer this novena with us as a sacrifice of our time out of love — and invite you to help us gather others to be part of this special opportunity to help Our Lady, who seeks souls to help her in prayer — so that she and the Infant Jesus, as requested of St. Lucia in multiple apparitions, including the messages given on December 10, 1925 and February 15, 1926 in Tuy, Spain — might ignite a worldwide response to persevering reparative prayer starting June 14, 2025.

THE CORE OBJECTIVE OF THIS NOVENA
For this long-form spiritual exercise over 12 months, we will focus on the core instructions of Our Lady of Fátima and for 52 weeks, strive to undertake as our main objectives:
- to reflect on how we can better (A) respond to and (B) realize (make concrete) her specific requests in our times, which so greatly need prayers of reparation.
A PRAYER OF CONFIDENCE: “AVE MARIS STELLA”
It is with the confidence and trust in Divine Mercy that we might follow the lead of St. Bridget of Sweden, whose revelations on the Passion of Christ gave to the Church deep knowledge of the science of Jesus Christ.
That we can be confident when we sing the “Ave Maris Stella”, as tradition narrates, comes from the story that Our Lady and Jesus instructed St. Bridget to sing the “Ave Maris Stella” (in Latin) and that she be firm in her request of Our Lady’s intercession in her time of greatest need.
As we celebrate on September 7, 2025 the canonization of Bartolo Longo, who converted from a life of great rebellion against God, we know from his own testimony that Our Lady has promised that all “who propagate the Rosary” (or advocate for the Rosary” is “saved” for Eternal Life — and according to God’s will, shall receive assistance from the Star of the Sea, Estrella do Mar and the celestial court of Heaven as promised to Blessed Alan in the 15 Promises to those who pray the Rosary.

IMPORTANT NOTE: IN THE FOLLOWING two WEEKENDS, we will explore the role of FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTION AS REPARATIVE PRAYER in relation to Our Lady of Fátima’s requests on June 13, 1917.
ANTICIPATING WEEK 2 of 52: FIVE FIRST SATURDAY REPARATION OPPORTUNITIES
With this first post, we ask all participants in the AVE MARIS STELLA NOVENA to look ahead to July, August, etc. by marking your calendars. Even if you are travelling, why not make time to SAVE-THE-DATES now to partake in the countdown to the December 10, 1925 First Saturday Apparitions anniversaries. Can you make every effort to participate in the First Saturday Devotion — or even help Our Lady promote the FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY in the world? If even a handful of readers were to make mandatory in their lives the First Saturday Reparation Masses to the Immaculate Heart of Mary — or even Saturday morning Masses as a gift to Our Lady of Sorrows — if you are able, and permitted, we’ve provided a First Saturday Reparation check list for these dates:
___ First Saturday #1 - July 5, 2025
___ First Saturday #2 - August 2, 2025
___ First Saturday #3 - September 6, 2025
___ First Saturday #4 - October 4, 2025
___ First Saturday #5 - November 1, 2025 (also the day we pray the Litany of the Saints)
SPECIAL ___ First Saturday #6 - December 6, 2025 - Consider making a pilgrimage to the Santuario Pontificio del Immaculado Corazon - https://misas.org/p/casa-del-inmaculado-corazon-de-maria-pontevedra in Tuy, Spain to pray the Rosary and celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the First Saturday Devotion APPARITION on December 10, 2025.
It states on the TUY, SPAIN website: “Aquí se aparecieron el Niño Jesús y la Virgen María a sor Lucia, una de los videntes de Fátima, el 10 de diciembre de 1925, cerrándose con esta aparición el mensaje de Fátima.”
NOTE: Father Elias Mary Mills, FI, has recorded his thoughts on this apparition in Tuy, Spain, and will explains at length for a future post on MARIANCONSECRATION.SUBSTACK.COM the concept of the First Saturday Devotion and its relationship to the June 13, 1917 request of Jesus via Our Lady of Fátima’s message — and the significance of this December 10, 2025 anniversary. He challenges us also to strive this Jubilee year to make Our Lady known and loved in our times.3

PART II: THE WHY BEHIND OUR PRAYERS OF THE ROSARY & CONSECRATION
A QUICK REVIEW OF THE CATECHESIS OF OUR LADY OF FÁTIMA’S APPARITIONS
To structure our novena, our podcast has chosen — with the spiritual direction of Fr. Mills that we strive to find a creative way to teach the apparitions of Our Lady to our listeners, and also help others understand the value of being obedient to her requests — is to draw upon the apparition on June 13, 1917, the day Our Lady of Fátima gave very specific instructions as a list of important requests of three shepherd children.
This list is applicable to us today, as we are called to listen like docile children.
After being asked the question of Venerable Lucia (as recorded in her memories published by the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima):
“My Lady, what would you like from me?", I asked.
… OUR LADY of FÁTIMA REPLIED with these three commands:
- “come here on the 13th day of next month”4
- “pray the Rosary every day”
- “learn to read”

On June 13, 1917, OUR LADY of FÁTIMA also said:
“Jesus wishes to avail Himself of you” …
“to make Me known and loved”.
and
“He wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart."
Then, after saying, “I will never forsake you”, Our Lady assures St. Jacinta, St. Francisco and Venerable Lucy:
“My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the path [caminho] that will lead you to God."
In her memoir, Lucy explains that the children understood by the end of this apparition:
“that it was Mary's Immaculate Heart, which, outraged by the sins of humanity, sought reparation”.

THE ORIGINS OF THE WORD DEVOTION:
WHAT DOES OUR LADY OF FÁTIMA EXACTLY MEAN BY “DEVOTION”?
Up until this past year, the Rosary Hour Podcast team didn’t really understand this request, “to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart” until Fr. Elias explained the following details during our meetings for the Christmas Consecration Journey in December 2024. In those sessions of Spiritual Direction, he explained that,
Devovere, which is the origin of the word “devotion”, in Latin means ‘consecrate’!
THUS… DEVOTION is CONSECRATION
or
DEVOTION = CONSECRATION
SOLEMN ACT OF CONSECRATION (DEVOTION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY)
Participants in this 52-week novena and Torres da Luz prayer project initiative are not only invited to pray the Rosary every day, as requested by Our Lady of Fátima, but also to conduct the “Solemn Act of Consecration” during any 30 to 40 day stretch of time leading up to a chosen Marian Feast day5, multiple times, or simply on the June 13, 2026 date on the poster we have created for this 52- weeks of prayer exercise.
The first weekend of prayer providentially coincides with Pope Leo XIV’s Jubilee weekend focused on sports in which he gave a powerful address that referenced the words of Saint Pope John Paul II at the same time
"Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable" (1 Cor 9: 25).
The necessity of this devotion as we confront the great challenges of our times in our efforts to pray this S.O.S. Rosary and Consecration to ask the assistance of the Blessed Mother on behalf of Holy Souls and with the objective of response to the June 13, 1917 requests by Our Lady and confidence when she respond’s to Lucy’s worry: "Am I to stay here alone by myself?" I asked with sadness.
Our Lady replies:
"No, child. And are you suffering greatly? Do not be disheartened. I will never abandon you.”

KEY QUOTES IN PORTUGUESE FROM THE MEMOIRS OF VENERABLE SISTER LÚCIA DOS SANTOS:
“Ó Santíssima Trindade, eu Vos adoro. Meu Deus, meu Deus, eu Vos amo no Santíssima Sacramento”
&
“Rezem o terço todos os dias, para alcançarem a paz para o mundo e o fim da guerra.”
The above messages are derived from the instructions given during the SECOND APPARITION OF OUR LADY OF FÁTIMA on June 13, 1917 to ponder for 1 year and find ways to respond to these requests in whatever way we can with the help of our Spiritual Directors.6

FOOTNOTES
This weekend, Pope Leo XIV celebrated the Jubilee of Sports. Thus, let us think of this consecration as a training ground and a way to build our muscle in prayer and for eternal life:
LET US REFLECT WITH ST. POPE JOHN PAUL II:
Once again the Apostle Paul has reminded us of this:
"Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable" (1 Cor 9: 25). Every Christian is called to become a strong athlete of Christ, that is, a faithful and courageous witness to his Gospel. But to succeed in this, he must persevere in prayer, be trained in virtue and follow the divine Master in everything.
He, in fact, is God's true athlete:
Christ is the "more powerful" Man (cf. Mk 1: 7), who for our sake confronted and defeated the "opponent", Satan, by the power of the Holy Spirit, thus inaugurating the kingdom of God. He teaches us that, to enter into glory, we must undergo suffering (cf. Lk 24: 26,46); he has gone before us on this path, so that we might follow in his footsteps.
May the Great Jubilee help us to be strengthened and fortified to face the challenges that await us at this dawn of the third millennium.
If you wish to tell us of your participation, write to us at odiario AT substack.com so we can send you a certificate of completion for your parish to fill out. We will post options for the CONSECRATION PRAYER as provided by Fr. Elias Mary Mills, FI and Fr. Nuno. In the meantime, you can attach the daily Act of Consecration to Our Lady which Fr. Anthony Gramlich, founding Spiritual Director of the Rosary Hour Podcast has recorded for Fr. Nuno’s Fátima Rosary which will be the text used for all 20 mysteries in this devotion. Those who wish to understand the Role of Mary in the Catholic Church can refer to a number of sites online; however, the Spiritual Directors of the Rosary Hour Podcast, including Cardinal Collins, have explained devotion to Mary. Here is His Eminence explaining to us at the beginning of our journey to understanding Devotion to Our Lady from June 8, 2022:
Cardinal Collins explains the Biblical roots of this devotion through the Angelus, which he led daily prior to leading the Holy Rosary on his knees every day before the tabernacle through the pandemic on live stream. Cardinal Collins is the Emeritus Archbishop of Toronto, Canada, and foremost expert on the book of Revelation. His first post was at Holy Rosary parish as a young pastor and he spoke to our podcast team about last things, helping us to define the eschatological questions which characterized our understanding of the “Why” of praying the Rosary. In the above video, one can gather his argument for why Devotion to Our Lady is so relevant and elevates the point that with Our Lady we have DOCTRINES — reminding us that there exists four infallible teachings of the Church — Mary’s Divine Motherhood, Immaculate Conception, Perpetual Virginity, and Bodily Assumption. These DOCTRINES, Fr. Chris Alar, narrator of the Rosary Hour Podcast, has explained in his “Explaining the Faith” talks online — are EX CATHEDRA. Thus, these carry the weight of celestial truth and understanding that goes beyond human comprehension, and which the Church defends as not only theologically sound, but doctrinally impossible to deny. These four Marian dogmas are the basis upon which DEVOTION to Our Lady not only becomes possible, but also scripturally accurate. The Angels call her “FULL OF GRACE”, and thus, when we pray the Rosary, we imitate the Angel’s Salutation. More on these notes in future.
Since many people cannot go to Fátima, Portugal on the 13th of the Month, why not visit virtually through their LIVESTREAM?
We invite you to scroll to the next post for the *NEW* official translation by Travessa da Senra House Press, presented in this post with Ecclesiastical permission to publish this current rendition for educational use purposes and to record them. This was done in response to Cardinal Marto’s request in May 2023 that we strive in the world to find creative ways — and “new pedagogies to teach the Rosary in our times”.
Fr. Elias Mary has encouraged in our Spiritual Direction sessions that we have always known those pedagogies, and yet have the chance in 2025-2026 to rediscover them. Thus, he has suggested the podcast pray about how to teach the apparitions of Our Lady and he has recorded a number of presentations, starting with Our Lady of Mount Carmel for our YouTube Channel.
